J'imaginais Solitude and Suicide comme l'album de la dissidence — avec un black metal ni totalement dépressif, ni symphonique, ni païen : il était un peu à part — mais il jouait en réalité le rôle d'album de transition. Dans Pandemic Transgression, Funeral Fornication met encore plus l'accent sur les synthés et entre de plain-pied dans le black metal symphonique. Le vitriol saturé existe encore part endroits mais ce sont les atmosphères et les mélodies qui emportent la bataille. Plus accessible.

De l'action de descendre sciemment vers le néant au constat simple, lancé dans un dernier soupir, comme si on était mis devant le fait accompli : There is no beauty left here... Mais contre toute attente, ce chant du cygne d'Exiled from Light n'est pas une acceptation résignée de la mort. Mort (je parle de l'artiste) est animé de l'énergie du désespoir, cette énergie qui fait accomplir des choses extraordinaires quand tout est perdu et ça rend son DSBM très beau, paradoxalement. Indispensable !!

High-quality, well-polished dungeon synth. I would say this album has you bobbing your head more than most dungeon synth. It's not funky or anything, but the percussive rhythms are very good without feeling out of place.

Faire passer le black par un équipement daté pour rendre le son brut de décoffrage, j'ai longtemps pensé que c'était Staurophagia le maître en la matière mais Obsidian Tongue l'a fait avant lui et tout aussi bien dans son premier opus, Volume I: Subradiant Architecture. On se retrouve ainsi avec un black metal qui rend hommage à l'école norvégienne, entre poésie ésotérique ("Approaching the Well", "It Dangles from the Bones") et guitares furieuses, mais il est aussi très moderne. Un bon album !
